Aion 2 server transfer: quick facts
| Start date | October 14, 2026 (global service: Europe, North America, Latin America, Asia) |
|---|---|
| Cost | Free at first. NCSOFT hasn't said how long the free period lasts. |
| Faction | Same faction only: Elyos to Elyos, Asmodian to Asmodian |
| Advanced Access servers | Can only transfer to other Advanced Access servers, not to launch servers |
| Playing with friends | All instanced content, including dungeons, is already cross-server |
| Source | NCSOFT notice "Information on server transfer", September 30, 2026 |
NCSOFT announced transfers to ease the launch queues: if your preferred server is full, you can start on a recommended server today and move later. Because dungeons are cross-server, you won't be cut off from friends in the meantime.
Who can move where
Aion 2 has two kinds of servers in every region. Advanced Access servers opened first, in the early-access period before launch, and launch servers opened for the free-to-play release on October 5, 2026. NCSOFT has said Advanced Access characters can only move between Advanced Access servers. Each server also houses only one faction, so a transfer never changes your side of the war.
Your Abyss opponents come from the opposing server your new home is paired with, so moving servers also changes who you'll fight. Pairings are rebalanced from time to time.

Will you keep your character name?
Character names only have to be unique on a single server, so the name you have now may already belong to someone on your destination server. NCSOFT hasn't explained how the global service handles that yet.
The Korean version gives a hint: during its July 2026 transfer window, transferred characters were given a temporary name and had to pick a new one on first login. If the global service works the same way, you'll want a few names ready before you move, especially if your current name is short or popular.
- Prepare three to five backups. Save them with ☆ below so they're one click away.
- Keep the sound, change the spelling. If your name is taken, try a variant: Ariel → Aryel, Ariell or Arielle.
- Newer servers have more free names. Launch servers opened later than Advanced Access servers, so short names are easier to find there.
